12Mitsumoto Takeo was born in the Golden Empire. Growing up he watched his father train and fell in love with the art of the sword and the code of the samurai. As time passed the ways of the samurai slowly fell to the those that pushed for the use of firearms. Times were changing in the Golden Empire but Takeo’s family remained loyal to the old ways. When his father came back from quelling a coup agianst the Empire he brought Takeo his first wooden sword, or bokken. He took to it like many of the other boys in his village quickly and began sparing with the other children. His father took great pride in his son taking up the family tradition of swordsmanship. This only served to fuel Takeo’s desire to learn and unlock all the secrets of the katana in effort to make his parents and ancestors proud.

The fall before he was old enough to join the Shogunate Army his father was called to war. The next spring while tending to the fields he recieved a visitor from the Shogunate Army. With his mother he was given the news that his father General Mitsumoto Katsu was killed by a rebel who claimed to be the greatest swordsman in all the Shogunate. The offficer presented Takeo with his father’s daisho and a small some from the Shogunate to help the family with their loss. After the rice season was over his mother soon fell ill. Takeo did the best he could taking small jobs as a guard for traveling merchants and even fighting in the undergound paid fighting rings to make enough money for the medicine his mother needed. His sister Ayame watched over their mother while he was gone and soon married into another warrior house as a way to get their mother the medical attention she needed but it was too late. The medicine Takeo had recieved from the underground fight doctor was actually fine cut opium in high enough doses as to make her addicted to it and her body need it to function. Takeo learned of the deception and killed the street doctor for his shameful actions. Soon the gang that was profiting off the doctors drug selling came after Takeo and killed his mother while both he and Ayame where away. They left a note saying that they would continue to kill his clan until none remained if he did not leave the country. So Takeo packed a small bag and began his journey east in hopes that they would not take his sister as well.

During his travels he leaned that the man who had killed his father went by the name Madoka, and was actually the leader of the gang that killed his mother. With two wrongs against his clan, Takeo pushed even harder to perfect his art. He would one day return to the Shogunate lands and kill the man named Madoka for his crimes against the Mitsumoto Clan.

Moe 59533 sampleWhen Takeo took to this new land he never thought he would find himself a Lord to believe in again after the failings of those in his land. The people seemed barbaric and rough to those whom they did not know. They had little respect for the station of warrior. Takeo soon meet a man who promised him passage into a new kingdom to provide another chance for him to hone his art. His mind was tainted by revenge. He was focused so much so he forgot his duty as a Noble Warrior. He agreed to assist the mysterious stranger to find “The Youngest of the Oldest” of the Elves and served as a guard to a caravan of refugees from this land.

He sought vigorously to find the elf that he was sent to find. Asking each elf he met until he came across Jade, a woman named for a rare stone believed to have the power to kill demons. She told him that she was not who he looked for but could aid him in finding “The Youngest of the Oldest,” and that she herself was “The Oldest.” While Takeo did not understand what she meant he intend to keep his word to the stranger and do what must be done to find the elf he sought. He watched over her and the people of the caravan. Soon he meet Isaiah Lethudos, Paladin to Iomedae, a man who had seen many harsh things in his time adventuring but put that aside to help these strangers to safety.

Isaiah showed knowledge as a soldier and placed Takeo in the rear guard unit. In his time with the rear guard Takeo had began teaching the men and woman of the caravan to defend themselves with quarterstaff’s made from the roofs of their old home. He saw them come together no longer as bitter people who only concerned about themselves, but now as a community. Like his homeland they began to value friendship and order. Each person had a job that would bring unity to them, together they were strong. Through his leadership and his strong drive to protect these people he served as a fine Lord than the Shogun of the Colonies did. Takeo began to think of new ways to best serve and aid Isaiah.

Soon after Isaiah parted with the group asking Takeo and Aldo Greytanner to ensure that the people made it safely to the next village and that the new people were trained and welcomed into the caravan. Time had passed and each day Takeo grew more proud of the people and how they came along as a community. Isaiah and his brother Greg returned to the Caravan guided by a talking falcon named Sorry. Isaiah believed the bird to be a harbinger of doom and sought to kill it. It was soon discovered that the bird was actually a friend of a man whose name was to be forgoten.Aospearman The bird was offend to find out that his friend, another bird was killed by Jade and challenged her to a duel. During the match Takeo and Isaiah spoke, Takeo again promised his sword to Isaiah but he was looking for something more from him. He spoke to Takeo about honor, loyalty and protection. The three major vows of a samurai and the vows he was supposed to take had it not been for his obsession with Madoka. He smiled at this and said:

“In my country a warrior’s sword is passed down from generation to generation. My family’s sword is so old that is origins are lost the passage of time. A warrior’s sword contains not only his honor but that of his family’s, it is up to him to maintain that honor for his ancestors sake. When I pledge my sword to you I pledge my life, my soul, my family and my honor. Though I am all that remains, the Mitsumoto Clan is in your service.”

With that Takeo had made his oath to bring pride to his family again and to become a samurai his ancestors could be proud of. He began to collect the supplies to craft the weapons and armor he would require and purchased a horse named Isao, which means “honor.”
